Meet Andy Sheppard – Owner/MD

Andy is the driving force behind the company’s growth and success. With over 30 years in the IT industry, he founded the business to bring high-quality, people-focused IT support to organisations that value reliability, security, and innovation. Under his leadership, the company has grown year on year, thanks to his mix of technical insight and genuine care for both clients and team culture.

“At the heart of great IT support is trust. My goal is to build relationships that last — not just fix problems, but help our clients thrive and grow as we do.”

Andy specialises in strategic planning, cyber security, client success, and shaping long-term technology roadmaps. He’s also known for jumping in with sleeves rolled up when things get urgent — whether it’s helping with a major migration or mentoring new engineers.

When he’s not running the business, Andy enjoys time with family, following Aston Villa, running, and discovering new tech (that actually makes life easier).
Coffee or tea? Coffee, black and strong.
If he weren’t in IT? Likely flying something — always wanted to learn to fly.

Fun fact: Andy once tore a 6 inch hole in his trousers while working in a clients office crawling under a desk to fix something. Initiative was required and he fixed the issue with half a dozen staples…

Andy Sheppard

Meet James – Head of Operations

James has over 25 years of IT experience and currently leads operations at our fast-growing managed services provider (MSP). With deep expertise in Microsoft 365, Kaseya, and cybersecurity he ensures systems are secure, efficient, and ready to scale. James is the go-to person for automation, process improvement, and streamlining user onboarding and patching across large estates.

“I love taking something messy or manual and making it clean, automated, and secure. Helping a client go from chaos to control — that’s the win.”

Outside of work, James enjoys exploring emerging tools that can help around the home and building hobby tech apps, loves F1 and is saving for an Aston Martin.
Favourite tool? Probably PowerShell – it’s the Swiss Army knife of IT.
Coffee or tea? Definitely coffee.
If he weren’t in IT, James says he’d probably be doing something with music production, or just sitting around listening to it at the very least!

Fun fact: once slept in a datacentre overnight to ensure a massive raid rebuild happened!

Meet Kevin - Helpdesk Manager

Helpdesk Extraordinaire, with 14 years of IT experience (11 of those at Omicron!), Kevin is your go-to for fast, friendly support. He manages the helpdesk, tackling tickets and calls with a calm head and a good sense of humour. Microsoft Certified and CompTIA A+ qualified, he’s seen it all—but especially loves the challenge of solving new problems he hasn’t come across before.

Every day brings something different, and that’s exactly what keeps Kevin energised—alongside a steady supply of coffee and Red Bull. He thrives on working with a fun team in a great atmosphere and still laughs about the time a caller couldn’t figure out why their laptop wouldn’t power on… until they casually admitted to soaking it in coffee.

When he’s not helping users (pro tip: always use helpdesk@omicronsolutions.co.uk to get the fastest response), you’ll find him hiking with his dogs, sipping a beer—or sometimes doing all three at once.

Fun Fact: A former baker who still dreams of dough, he’s also known for tempting fate by never using a screen protector… and somehow never cracking a phone.

Meet Amber - Sales and Marketing Manager

Amber brings 26 years of leadership experience to our team, combining a sharp eye for strategy with a natural flair for energising people. At the heart of her work is a passion for making tech approachable and client relationships strong. She leads our sales and marketing efforts, turning support services into standout experiences.

“I love showing people how easy it can be to enjoy your work and still deliver brilliant outcomes.”

Amber’s all about adventure outside of work — she’s run five marathons, absailed, paddleboarded, microlighted, windsurfed and more. If she weren’t in tech, she’d be leading adrenaline retreats with coffee in hand.

Fun fact: Amber once skydived out of a plane… and promptly passed out mid-air. Still counts, right?

Meet Sam – IT Support Engineer (Automotive Systems Specialist)

With a decade’s worth of experience in automotive technology and IT infrastructure, Sam brings a wealth of experience to our team since joining 3 years ago.

Specialising in automotive systems support, Sam has a keen understanding of the unique challenges and technologies within the industry, developed during his time with the prestigious BMW Group.

At the core of Sam’s role is ensuring seamless technical support for our automotive solutions, whether it’s troubleshooting complex system integrations or optimising diagnostic tools.

Known for his problem-solving mindset and attention to detail, Sam is passionate about delivering reliable IT support that keeps systems running smoothly and efficiently.

“There’s a unique thrill in untangling IT problems—the messier the issue, the greater the satisfaction when everything clicks into place.”

Outside of work, Sam enjoys watching the latest movies and staying on top of the newest innovations in IT/Automotive tech and is always ready to lend a hand (or a toolkit) to a project in need of expert insight.

Meet Tom - IT Support Engineer

With over 8 years of experience in IT and 4 years at Omicron, Tom is your go-to expert for user support, client site visits, and all things Intune. He’s Microsoft certified in Azure Fundamentals, Dynamics 365 Fundamentals, and as a Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, as well as Sophos Certified. Tom’s expertise also includes Intune/Azure management and writing PowerShell scripts to streamline complex tasks.

Tom’s top tip when submitting a support ticket? “Include as much information as possible!” He thrives on solving challenging IT issues that push him to learn something new—continual growth is part of his DNA.

Outside of the tech world, Tom enjoys travelling, reading, and playing chess. He’s also a big fan of PowerShell and starts his day with a strong coffee.

A fun fact: Tom has a passion for languages and can speak conversational Chinese!

Meet William – Helpdesk Technician

William has been with Omicron Solutions Ltd for 4 years, bringing a strong focus on endpoint support and security. He specialises in securing devices and automating their deployment, making sure systems are not only protected but also efficiently managed.

His top tip for raising a support ticket? “Include a detailed description—error messages and codes can make all the difference in resolving your issue quickly.”

When he’s not diving into IT challenges, you’ll likely find William immersed in a sci-fi novel or enjoying a gaming session, always with a strong coffee in hand.

Meet Steve – BMW Technical Lead

Meet Steve – BMW Technical Lead

With over 35 years of experience in automotive diagnostics and repair, Steve Hutchinson is the cornerstone of our BMW technical team. Known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of BMW systems, from manufacturer systems to all corners of the IT environment, Steve ensures our dealerships runs with precision, expertise, and a deep respect for the processes and nuances of the motor trade.

Whether it’s resolving the trickiest network or infrastructure items or mentoring junior techs, Steve is the go-to expert for anything Bavarian.

“Every issue has a story — I love figuring it out, fixing it right, and getting people back to business with confidence”

Steve once rebuilt a core switch config from memory during a power outage — and got the whole office back online before lunch.

When he’s not in the workshop, you’ll likely find Steve out in the wild — biking forest trails, windsurfing, or simply soaking up sea air by the coast. He’s happiest outdoors, especially when there’s a bit of adventure involved.

Favourite tool? A good old noggin! – “Still one of the best ways to get something fixed, ask the right questions use the grey matter.”

Tea or coffee? Tea – not too strong, not too milky

If he weren’t a technician? “Probably a marine engineer or running a bike shop on the coast somewhere!”

Fun fact: I spent my younger years running a Night Club in Perth Australia
